Apocalypto Movie Review

I'm not a big movie person, I don't run out and see the latest greatest or newest playing movies.  I very rarely even go to the theater. I'm more of a curl up at home in my pj's and just relax. If I need to pause it for something I can, and the best part is no one is blocking my view in the seat in front of me. Winning!!!

So a couple weeks ago I come home and my boyfriend is watching a movie. No big deal. Most of the movies he likes I'm not too into anyways but he was insistent that "this movie is crazy, you gotta watch it".

Ok...Ok, I sit down and I start watching the movie (now it's like half over at this point) and let me tell you, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. So full of suspense and action, dread, relief and just complete horror and finally relief again. I liked it so much that when it played again on the same channel, I watched it again. The movie was long to begin with but I sat watched it twice. Like 5 hours!!

Then I got online and researched all about it. I know that may sound nuts but I was really curious at that point and had a bunch of questions. Theses were the biggest ones I had.

  1. Who were the people on the boats at the end?
  2. Was this based off of real events?
  3. Did they really sacrifice people like that?

I really enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to anyone that can stand violent films.  The thing that impressed me the most was Jaguar Paw, the heart of that man and his dedication to his family was just amazing.
