Halloween Makeup Looks To Try At Home!

Eleven days away from Halloween, who's excited?

Granted it's not my favorite day ever but it is always fun to pretend, dress up, or do your makeup in a new and cool way. The most popular I have seen so far is the Skeleton look. Done in different ways of course but all based around the same theme but not all of us want to be scary or look alike! So what are some other cool unique looks for your night out in the streets?

Before I show you a few looks I've tried, let's take a look at a few of the top trending Halloween costumes for 2016.

Most of you use Snapchat, I not so much! Nevertheless, Party City predicts that the Top Halloween Customs this year will be Snapchat filters. I know, I was like what?? Who wants to look like Rainbow Vomit? Well, apparently a few of you do!! LOL!! Which is a little bizarre but hey, this is a free country?!

Some other Snapchat filter looks you can try is the Flower Crown Filter, just grab a quick bundle of flowers from your local dollar store! Make a flower wreath crown and wall-la! You can add a few braids in your hair, a cool hippie outfit and you're ready ta go! For your makeup, try to match the color of your flowers to your eyeshadows and lip color.

Play the real life Pikachu from Pokemon Go! This costume you know will be everywhere. I think we should try to catch every one of them we see!! That will teach them! LOL!! No, I'm kidding but it will probably be a bit of an overkill.

Another one I think that will be on every girl, woman and child are Harley Quinn inspired looks. I've already been seeing it in my news feeds on all the major social media platforms. Not a huge fan of her either, especially for a younger child, but I can be on the prude side.

I always tell my kids you can be anything you want, except something downright evil. So no demons, or ghosts, or anything that has a really dark stigma. I don't believe it should be an all out forget what I believe in and honor the Devil type of day. I try to keep it fun and about getting to dress up and eat lots of candy. It's a fun day, not a day to worship Satan. Just my take, I know some people who live for this day. Which is fine, that doesn't bother me one bit. It's just not what I want for my house.

As they were younger that was easy but now it has been a little difficult to keep a handle of. Like last year, I broke my own rule and went as Chucky. I know right?? How horrible was that?!! Great example MOM!!

So this year is kinda shot as my oldest daughter who is almost 14, is going as a Zombie and my youngest who is 9, is still undecided. She takes forever to make up her mind and will probably change it after the costume has been bought. Happens every year!!

This was their last year's costumes, she was Daryl and Katie was a Skeleton.

I think one of the most popular Halloween costumes this year will be the candidates for POTUS. Clintons and Trumps from all over the world, competing for your candy! LOL!! It will be interesting to see who we see more of? Let's do a vote, do you think there will be more Trump or Clinton mask costumes? Comment your answers below!!

Superheroes are always great, nothing is better than a cool looking Spiderman, Batman, or Wonder Women. Personally, I prefer Cat Women! She's the cat's meow!!

Here are a few of the looks I have tried out so far this year.

For this Comic book look, I used a black eye pencil and palette #5 on my eyes. The bright colors really helped make this look POP! It is one of my favorite Halloween costume looks.

I used palette #3 for this look. It has the perfect shades of purples and pink undertones. For the silver white color, I used palette #5.

For this look, I tried a traditional doll look!

These Face charts are trending big time. So I picked one I liked and gave it a try.

Not the best in the world but the cool thing about all these looks is I just used my Younique Palettes! I currently have the brand new number #5 and originally I had #3 which is shown in the picture above with the fabulous wig I'm wearing! That is all I used, plus a normal black eye pencil. I want to do a look that most people could do with the makeup they already have at home.

We all have some sort of eyeshadow in a variety of colors. Plus, I wanted to challenge myself. Using normal Halloween makeup would have been much easier, especially doing a skull or skeleton look because of all the white used. My goal was to show you that you can use what you have and still walk away with an okay look for a fun night out with your friends or be hanging out with the Kiddos.

New October Kudos!

New October Kudos!

You're going to FALL in love with this month's Kudos!!

Before we move on, which color would you choose??
Mine would have to be....number 2, 8, and 10.

Why in threes?

It's three because of our BRAND NEW Splash Lipstick in a matte finish. You can use any of the three colors to really create an awesome custom lip color.

Here is the Deal, for this month only!!

Plus, I'll through in a FREE Lip Exfoliator. Which just came out this October as well!!

This works wonders on your lips and keeps them soft, supple, and smooth. Makes application of your lipstick go on better and lasts longer.

Enjoy your Fall season with these customizable lipstick colors in a matte finish, what is better than that? Well, maybe chocolate lipstick! That would be yummy!

Who wants fair food?

Every Fall my mind shifts to food. Don't get me wrong I love to eat and can put down a hefty plate but normally I just make regular dinners and the typical dessert. Nothing too crazy or exciting. Mostly meals that are quick and easy.  Like tacos or baked chicken but when it's Fall my mind moves to new ideas and fun dishes.

The last two nights I made a new dessert. Maybe not new but new to me and it got me thinking about the fair and all their wonderful choices. Fried bacon dipped in chocolate, Fried Twinkies, Giant chicken legs, and yummy smoked ribs! Oh, my gosh!

So tonight I'm going to give you some of my all time fair food recipes. I searched far and wide....no not really! Most were fairly easy, which made my day.
Let's start with the meat!

By meat, I am talking about pulled pork. It's not a fair without it and can't be left off my list.

1. Pulled Pork

Well, you can just eat meat..now can you? How about a side with that?
Why I'm glad you mentioned that. Your side this evening is something no fair can be without...something fried!

So I've got Fried Macaroni and Cheese Balls! Nothing is more of a comfort food than mac and cheese. Just thinking of it makes me think of being a kid. Well, now we are grown-ups and we can't just eat plain ole mac and cheese! Heck No! We must fry it!

2. Fried Mac and Cheese Balls

Okay, are you stuffed? Not yet? Good, let's continue on to the dessert!

My first dessert is super yummy. You can smell it frying before you even get there! Funnel Cake, a new family favorite.  I've made this for two nights in a row. Super light and fluffy! Perfect fair dessert!

3. Funnel Cake

This is my Funnel Cake Chicken! LOL, I made all sorts of
weird shapes that night!

If you are more of a cinnamon sugar fan? Maybe you'd prefer Elephant Ears! These giant fried dough pies, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar is the main reason I go to the fair. Until now, I've not had the recipe. UNTIL NOW, MMUUAAHAAHHAA!

Oh, my heart is so pleased.  Life is complete!  Then I read the recipe. How did I not know this? Way easy and super basic. Those people are making a killing.

4. Elephant Ears

Now our first recipe, you know..the pulled pork? Well, that wouldn't be perfect without homemade Pretzel Buns. Yes, I said Pretzel Buns! Golden,  soft, and salty buns. They make the world go round. Or was the flat bottom girls? Doesn't matter. Those babies are so good and can be made into any sandwiches.  Turkey, ham, pork, chicken, or steak.

5. Pretzel Buns For the Pulled Pork

1 tea Salt

In a small saucepan over medium heat combine milk, salt, 2 T sugar and the shortening. Transfer mix to large bowl. Stir in Flour to make the dough.

In large skillet or deep fryer heat 1 inch of oil to 375. Roll out 1" to 2"
balls of dough into thin sheets.

Carefully place, one each into the pan or deep fryer. Fry until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towel. Top with cinnamon/sugar mixture.

One of my favorite Fair Foods of all time!! :)

Homemade Pretzel Buns

Homemade Pretzel Buns

Ingredients

1/2 C Water
1/2 C Milk
2 T Butter, soft
3 C Flour all-purpose
2 T Brown Sugar
2 1/4 tea Instant Yeast
2 tea Salt
1 Egg separated
Cornmeal
3/4 C Baking Soda

To make the buns combine water, milk, butter and heat in microwave for 45 seconds.

Next, add the instant yeast and let stand for 5 mins to proof.

Then add the yolk and dry ingredients. Knead together for 5 minutes to completely mix all ingredients together.

Let rise for 1 hour in a warm place in the kitchen. Or place in a warmed oven of 150 with a towel or light covering.

Heat a pop of water to boiling. Add the baking soda to the water.

Divide dough into small bun sizes. Your choice of how big or small.

Form ball in your hand and then pull the top to the bottom to make a smooth finished top.

Make all pieces before going to the next step.

Then add two or three buns to your baking soda water mixture. Boil in water for 30 seconds a side. This helps give your pretzels their nice dark and shiny look.

Remove from water and drain to remove excess water. Place on cornmeal cookie sheet.  The baking soda will make them stick even to a greased pan. I've found this works wonders. Slice a small slit in the tops of the buns lengthwise.

Bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes. Remove when they are your desired golden brown.

Eat with dip or use to make a killer sandwich with pulled pork or your favorite lunch meat.

Funnel Cake

Funnel Cake Recipe

Ingredients

2 C Milk
1 Egg
1 tea Vanilla
2 C Flour
1 tea Salt
1 Tab Sugar
1/2 or 4 Tab Butter
Powdered Sugar for topping

Mix together the milk, egg, and vanilla. Add melted butter. In another bowl combine flour, salt, and sugar. Beat with a hand mixer and add the flour mixture.

Place in a squeeze bottle. If you don't have one, do what I did and use a small measuring cup.

Heat oil to medium heat or around 350 degrees. Be careful when adding the batter as it will splatter. The squeeze bottle didn't work well for me and came out in smaller drops, not a thin line like needed. So I went with the measuring cup method. Fill a 1/2 C measuring cup with batter, clean off extra. Take over the heated oil and start pouring it in thin lines all over. Crossing and overlapping as you pour.

Cook until golden brown on both sides. Not too dark. Top with powdered sugar, Nutella, or your favourite topping.

Another fun treat you could do is Funnel Cake Ice Cream sandwiches.
For this just make the cakes a bit smaller. Soften ice cream and add a scoop between two Funnel Cake layers!! So very easy and the kids love them!

No Trick or Treating for me!!

No trick or treating for me, I'm ordering in and having it delivered right to my door. Oh? You didn't know you could do that??!!

Shoot, hang tight!

That is right, I get to avoid all those crazy busy stores! Plus by the time I get there all my favorite candy is gone and I'm left to choose from Whoops or dark chocolate milky ways. Really??

So I was so very thankful when I came across the Candy Club. I love their candy and their huge assortments. Going through the pages is like being a kid again. Some of this candy I haven't seen, let alone had in years.

Stay in this year, rent a fun movie with your friends or special someone and order in some fantastic candy that will bring back all your childhood memories!!
