I have spent the last three months rummaging through all my families old recipes boxes. My goal was to create a cookbook that would be meaningful to my girls. Something they can use with their own families someday and tell their kids that Grandma made this cookbook for them. After going through so, so many, I realized that these recipes are really good but they are also not your typical recipes. I've tried to find recipes that would appeal to most people and families but also recipes that are maybe not the normal dinner dishes.

This cookbook has 99 pages of really good and what I would call family friendly recipes that are not only super easy to make but taste amazing. Your family will be excited about dinner for a change. If they are anything like my family, all the meals seem to be demanding and time-consuming. I didn't want to spend any more time in the kitchen than I had too. No offense, I love to cook but it has gotten to become a drag.

Well, hopefully, this cookbook will help. These are all recipes I know but don't ever make, no really sure why. I guess I just forgot about them in the everyday grind of life. I ordered a copy of it today and can't wait for you to get yours too!!

7 Products Makeup Artists Won't put on their skin!

I'm sure you could talk to a zillion Makeup Artists and they will probably all give you a different opinion about which products they love. The products that work the best and of course what they hate. 

I've spent the last few days researching and talking with different Makeup Artist and have come up with 7 products that Makeup Artists won't use on their or client's skin. 

I'm going to go into great depth on each item listed but I will give you an idea of why they say this and some of the pros and cons. 

1. Foundation without a skin care benefit!

Most Makeup Professional will tell you that they WILL NOT use a product on their face that doesn't have some sort of benefit in it. Most prefer an anti-age benefit such as a serum in the foundation. Be sure to look at all ingredients before purchasing to make sure. 

2. OTT Highlighters

I have heard them all say to stay away from any metallic or glittery highlighters. The reason being is it gives you an oily appearance and emphasizes skin texture. 

3. Face products with Talc

Talc is added to a ton of products but your face shouldn't be one of them but I have heard mixed feelings about this product and whether it should or shouldn't be used. It can give you a dry and flat effect. 

Talc has many uses in cosmetics and other personal care products; in food, such as rice and chewing gum; and in the manufacture of tablets. For example, it may be used to absorb moisture, to prevent caking, to make facial makeup opaque, or to improve the feel of a product. 

4. Hairspray to set Makeup

This is one of those things you read and go "REALLY??" but yes! some people have actually sprayed their face with hairspray to set their makeup. Please, please don't do this!! Nothing like a good eye infection called Blepharitis to really ruin your day! 

5. Physical Exfoliants

Exfoliating your skin is wonderful and has many benefits to it from removing dead skin cells, to helping increase collagen production which can help minimize pores and gives your skin a glowing look and feel. Some people have used nuts or peach pits which have sharp edges and can scratch the skin. Leaving more damage done than what was there before. It's a big NO, NO!! 

I like to use baking soda and rubbing alcohol. I mix it together in my palm until I get a nice thicker paste. Then apply to my face gently. Let sit for 5-10 minutes and wash off with cool water. 

6. Bird Poop

Yep, I said it! You didn't read that wrong. Guano is a trendy skin care ingredient. Which is another reason why you should check your labels!  I'm not actually sure the benefits of the bird poop and personally don't want to find out. 

7. Matte Powder Foundation

Nothing for me is worse than applying your makeup and you start finishing it with a powder and notice that it settles into all your fine line and wrinkles. Also, it will accentuate pores. So instead try to find a semi-matte finish.

1. Invest in the right tools!

One of the most consistent things I keep reading about in the Makeup world is how important having the correct tools are. They can make or break a great looking makeup look. 

Having the correct makeup tools not only makes the application of your makeup easier but it gives it a more even and natural look to it. Nothing looks worse than when someone can tell you have a lot of face makeup on but most of us can't get away with that. Trust me, this is one of the rules I broke and didn't even know it. I always would use my hands and fingers to apply my makeup. After investing in good brushes I've really seen a big difference and it seems to take me less time. 

2. Contouring is your friend

3. Choose the correct Concealer for your skin tone! 

Concealer is one of those beauty items that women either love or hate to use. This affinity or disgruntled attitude toward the product is usually determined by whether or not it’s being used properly.

Concealer is usually used around the eyes, lips and to cover blemishes and it comes in liquid and cream form. Whether you’re using it to hide a blemish, scar or to add definition to your look, concealer can be your new best friend. Concealer Tips and advice:

4. Always Blend Up

A beauty blender is going to be your favorite new tool. After applying your makeup with the correct brushes. Go back over your face with a damp blender. It will remove any extra excess foundation you may have on and give you a fully blended look. 

5. Never use just one color on your eyebrows

I am guilty of this! Until recently I still used just one color on my eyebrows, which I feel gave them a duller look and without definition feel. Instead, try using two shades on your eyebrows.

To get the most out of your lip color, the application is key. I always take a little bit of lip balm and lightly coat my lips. Next I'll take a new but not used toothbrush and gently message my lips. That increases the blood flow and gives them a more healthy plump look.

**Product Review**- 3D Fiber Lashes by Younique and More!!

Today I'll be doing a review on the 3D Fiber Lashes by Younique, why it is my new go to mascara! 

If you follow me or my blog at all, you'll know that in early March I signed up and joined Younique. My goals in joining were really just the kit and my thinking was a lot like this, "All this makeup for just $99? Shoot, I can't lose".  To be totally honest with you, it really was an amazing deal and I still am using the products I received in my kit. The bottom line is I fell in love with the makeup. I fell in love with the women of the company that I work closely with every day. They are all so great at holding you accountable and driving you to meet your next goals. At first, I just wanted the kit but now it is growing into a love for the company and I'm seeing the experience in front of me and how it really can change my life and maybe someone else's life as well.
